They can talk through options and help you decide what information, people or services will be most helpful for you.

Key steps to consider
Ensure that you’re safe If you’re still in danger contact emergency services on 000 immediately and try to get to somewhere safe.
Talk to someone A trusted friend, family member, or counsellor. You might find it easier to get confidential, professional help first.
Get medical help If you’ve been sexually assaulted, try to get to a hospital or health centre where they can give you appropriate medical care.
Trust yourself, your instincts. Remember that it’s never okay for someone to assault you for any reason.
Know your rights The laws relating to sexual assault vary from state to state, country to country.
